Fruitful Life

Mark 11:12-13

“Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.”

Jesus cursed this phony fig tree. Do not pretend to be fruitful, rather be fruitful as a child of God.

We live in a world where there is so much competition. Keeping up appearance is the order of the day. There is tremendous pressure to impress people. This is real on social media platforms and even in the way we live.

People post pictures portraying success, happiness and wealth, yet inside there is a void.

It is more like what Paul writes;

“having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:5

We have mastered an art of having a form of godliness but denying its power. It’s so sad that we choose to pretend than to be the real thing.

I believe the issue of identity plays a significant role in this. It’s crucial for us, especially those who are born again, to know our identity. Our identity is in Christ. Period. It’s not in your accolades, your success, and your accomplishments.

Let me establish something here;

Genesis 1: 26-27

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So, God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Now, it’s important to know the truth. The truth makes us free. This truth is found in the Word of God. The Word of God is the truth. Every lie has an expiry date, but truth thrives. It endures(lasts for a long time).

So, the above scripture tells us that we are made in the image of God. This speaks of spirit. We are also made in the likeness of God. This speaks of genetic function. Just knowing this is transformational. It changes the way you view yourself.

Let’s move on.

The second thing I want us to realize is this; you do not need to pretend to be successful in life. Pretending it hurts us, it neutralizes our faith.

Why do have to pretend of something which you already possess?

It’s already there in your DNA.

This is what God decreed upon you;

Genesis 1 verse 28

“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

See there? You are blessed, which means empowered to prosper by God. Fruitfulness is your portion. You are anointed to multiply and to walk in dominion.

So, as a child of God, you only need to appropriate this Word in your life. You do not need to pretend at all. There is something powerful within you. Release that which is in you. As I speak about fruitfulness, please understand that I’m not just talking about finances and material things. Fruitfulness is when we release that which is within us, that which God deposited in us.

I like what God said to our father in faith, Abraham. The Bible says;

Genesis 17:5-6

“No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.”

Abraham was made exceedingly fruitful. This is our portion.

Do you have a right to walk in this blessing of Abraham? Oh, yes!

The Bible says;

Galatians 3:26-29

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

You are Abraham’s seed, and you qualify to walk in the three-fold Abrahamic blessing. The blessing of possession, the blessing of elevation and the blessing of dominion is yours.

It’s time for you to be fruitful, release that which God Has put in you. Be fruitful and subdue the earth as you walk in your dominion mandate.

    We can become fruitful because of genes of God inside us

  2. Psalm 26:4 says, “I do not sit with false persons, nor fellowship with pretenders.” The Lord is very serious about this. I have had to stop going to a certain Church because they were pretenders. This is a very needful message. Yours are always so insightful!

  3. Amen 🙏🏾. We have to be fruitful and remain attached to the vine. This reminds me of a quote I hear my father say. “Buds and shoots aren’t fruits.” It means some people look promising and can give the appearance of fruits, but with close inspection, you roll realise that it’s simply buds and shoots. We have to be discerning but also make sure that we bear good fruit. 🙏🏾
